Michelle Lynn Monaghan Bio

Michelle Lynn Monaghan (born March 23, 1976) is an American actress. She is well-known for her role as the lead in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Gone Baby Gone (2007), Made of Honor (2008), Eagle Eye (2008), Trucker (2008), Source Code (2011), Pixels (2015) and Patriots Day (2016). The actress has also been recognized for her starring role as Julia Meade in the action spy film series Mission: Impossible, appearing in Mission: Impossible III (2006), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011), and Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018).On television, Monaghan starred as Maggie Hart in the first season of the anthology crime drama series True Detective (2014), in which she earned an award nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also played Sarah Lane on the drama series The Path (2016-18). Monaghan starred as Eva Geller in the 2020 Netflix thriller series Messiah; the show was cancelled after one season. Monaghan was born in the small town (then there was a population of around 750) of Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Sharon Hammel, and Robert Monaghan who was a factory worker. Bob and John are her two older brothers. Monaghan is a Catholic of Irish and German descent and has graduated from East Buchanan High School, 1994. She moved to Chicago after graduating to study journalism at Columbia College Chicago. Then she started modeling. She has modeled in Milan and Tokyo, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and the United States. After one semester to complete her journalism degree in 1999, she made the move to New York to pursue an acting career. Modeling was her forte and was featured in various catalogs and magazines prior to beginning her acting career. Monaghan's two first television credits, as a secondary character, were for episodes of Young Americans in 2000. Her second television appearance was in Law & Order: Special Victims United in "Consent", which premiered on January 19, 2001. In addition, she made her first big screen appearance in Perfume the following year, playing Henrietta. In 2002, she was again in a supporting role in Unfaithful which starred Richard Gere & Diane Lane.
